Ferrari offers you a 296 Speciale and a used 458 Speciale - which will lose more money???

A new 296 Speciale would cost you a base price of $475,000. Plus 20% of options this would be $570,000 - some car would likely cost even more. The standard 296 has a track record of significant depreciation. New in 2023 for a GTB you would have paid $450,000. Today it would be worth $275,000. A loss of $175,000 in just 2 years. This is due the car's hybrid engine, poor design, and fact the car has been over-supplied by all things that have been carried into the Speciale version. Instead you could buy a 458 Speciale for around $200,000 more. A car that is not falling in price but one that is growing. $450,000 in 2023 today $800,000. A price of $350,000 over the same period that a 296 GTB lost $175,000. A difference of $525,000 - Painfully if you bought the wrong car.
